Trip to Puerto Rico
Five Days in Puerto Rico
Our flight from New York to San Juan Puerto Rico was quick and seamless. Due to COVID we had to ensure we all had negative PCR test completed up to 72 hours before entering. Entering was quick and easy as long as you complete the tests beforehand and uploaded the results. Our ride from San Juan Airport to La Concha Renaissance San Juan Resort was swift and easy.
Day One
We began our trip by exploring the area of El Condado. It was a lively area right by the beach and was full of tourist. Some local Puerto Ricans compared the area to South Beach Miami.
My son passed some time playing in the fountain after we enjoyed some food at Cayo Blanco Seafood Restaurant.
This day was spent mostly at the beach and then dinner at Condal.
This day started with a trip to El Yunque Rainforest booked through TripAdvisor. We were picked up at the hotel then driven to the rainforest where we took a hike to a natural slide. My six year old didn’t dare go down but it was fun for the adults. After going down the slide a couple times we continued our hike down to the bottom of the river where we swam and the little ones could slide down a smaller natural slide. After our hike we were taken to Playa Luquillo where we ate some local food and spent the rest of the day before being driven back to the hotel. Our day concluded with getting dinner at Chloe.
Our next day we spent exploring El Viejo San Juan. We started at Castillo San Felipe del Morro. You pay $10 as an entrance fee which also gives you access to Castillo de San Cristobal. The tickets are good for two days so if you can’t make it that day you can use the tickets for the next castle the following day. My son loved exploring the different rooms and seeing the old cannons.
We then headed out to walk around the city while enjoying a piragua, which is shaved ice with a syrup/juice on top. My favorite is the tamarind and passion fruit.
Our last full day started with breakfast at Waffler Avenue. The boys loved the waffles and I enjoyed my açaí bowl. Then we headed snorkeling. It was my sons first time and he loved it. We were able to see turtles and different fish swimming around. This was my husband and my second time snorkeling but we took joy in sharing the experience with our son and that the tour guide gave us so much time to explore especially because it took our son a little time to adjust.
